About the area:
De Kelders is a sought-after holiday destination, especially for nature lovers. It offers beautiful sea views over Walker Bay towards Hermanus, with Cape Hangklip on the horizon. On a clear day, Cape Point can even be seen from here. Beside the beautiful views and unspoilt coastline, De Kelders is famous for being a whale watching mecca. The location makes land based whale watching easily accessible. Since the seafloor is deep, the whales comes right up to the cliffs from where they can be easily spotted from several lookout points along the coastline.
De Kelders gets its name from the many caves along the coast, of which the “Drupkelder” (with a freshwater source in the cave) is located right in front of the apartment block. The famous Klipgat Cave is a 20 minute walk away and lies next to the “Walker Bay Nature Reserve”, which stretches from De Kelders to Hermanus. Beautiful open beaches and fascinating rock formations can be seen here.
